The 12 Kits of Occasions - June Celebrations

It's the last day of the month and you know what that means right? It's time for The 12 Kits of Occasions! The 12 Kits of Occasions is a group of 12 friends who all love to paper craft. Every month we take turns making a kit for the rest of the group. We all receive the same kit with the same items. On the last day of the month we reveal what we each made with the kit. It's fun to see how we used the product in different ways. Sometimes the projects are similar and sometimes they are very different.

Our hostess this month is Tracey McNeely from In My Creative Opinion Blog! Tracey is the Queen of CLEAN and a very prolific crafter! I love how she showcases images making them the center of attention with no distractions! Her kit was all good things.. stamped images from Ellen Hutson, Pretty Pink Posh and Lawn Fawn. Die cuts included pretty feathers from Concord & 9th and a super fun Reveal Wheel. There were even wood veneer embellishments from Jillibean Soup! The pretty plaid paper is from Lawn Fawn called Perfectly Chill Plaid.

Fusion Card Challenge - Rainbow Birds

A new challenge begins today at Fusion Card Challenge! This one is called Rainbow Birds. Another trixie challenge for me! I see birds and they're rainbow colored! What to make?!!

I found some beautiful dove dies (Peaceful Dove, Peaceful Dove Collage) in my stash from Poppystamps and got to work making some pastel rainbow backgrounds. Sometimes pushing yourself with something unexpected brings nice surprises.

I die cut the Peaceful Dove Collage and Brush Hello Dies from white card stock and layered them over a pastel rainbow distress ink panel so the color shows through.

Next I made a shaker card cutting the Peaceful Dove die from a rainbow distress ink panel. I think this one is my favorite. 

I love the clean white die cuts over the rainbow panel. I filled the shaker with a gold sequin mix so there's lots of bling.

After I cut out the Peaceful Dove from the panel I used on the previous card I thought it was just too pretty to throw away, so I adhered it over a panel that I painted with distress ink refills.

Pretty Little Studio - Stay Wild!

Memorial Day always marks the start of Summer for me! The days start getting longer and the sunshine calls me outdoors. It's also the time of year I start thinking about taking a road trip. The new Pretty Little Studio Bohemian Dreams Collection reminds me to stay wild and live free! 

I topped the background of pattern paper with a Groovy 3x4" journaling card. I adhered craft foam to the back of the 3x4" card before adhering it to the card base. This adds lots of dimension.

I tucked Happiness cut apart circles along the side of the journaling card to create a scalloped border. The cut aparts are a great value because they're only 99 cents. It's easy to punch out the circles with a 1" circle paper punch and use them like you would die cuts. These circles make great tabs too! 

The collection has pretty die cut butterflies, florals and hearts all perfectly color coordinated, cut and ready to work with. 

I love the fun funky look of Bohemian Dreams and I know you will too!

Momenta Travel Journal

Memorial Day kicks off the beginning of Summer in the Midwest. Swimming pools are open for enjoyment and I hear lawnmowers in the distance. Summer also means time to hit the road with the family and TRAVEL! 

Momenta makes so many wonderful craft products that you can find at your local craft store like Hobby Lobby, Joann, and Michael's. I recently discovered their EXPLORER planner system of covers and inserts. You can customize your own albums for doodling, planning, or setting goals. 

I customized my book to record the details of camping trips this summer. I plan to document dates, campsites, meals and even expenses to help me plan for future trips. The Inserts are books of paper sewn together (they're not a pad - think composition book style) available in lined, graph, and calendar print. There are several different glitter album covers as well as folders to keep receipts or other ephemera from your trip

I started by distressing the cover of the Graph Explorer Insert with distress ink and some gold pigment paint. I inked the edges, splattered, and made some faux coffee rings dipping a cup into some watery ink.
I decorated the Insert with Mixed Media Adventure Stickers. The sticker sheet has stickers made from weed veneer, chipboard, cork, and even foil accents. 

I love the images that include a campsite sign, campfire, pine tree and even a little bear! 

I know this book will be a treat to write in every time I reach for it!

Happy News! Jillibean Soup Intro

I'm happy to share that I'm on the Jillibean Soup Design Team. You'll be able to find my makes on their blog here.

Jillibean Soup makes lots of great things for crafting including pretty rainbow papers like these from All About Plaid. I color blocked strips from the pad, attaching them on their reverse, and then adhered them to my card front. 

They carry printed die cut images to match paper packs like these from the Rainbow Roux collection. They're perfectly coordinated to work together so making is a breeze

They also have a Shape Shaker Program. They have die cut card bases, plastic shaker inserts and stamp and die sets that coordinate so making shaker cards is easy. The hardest part is deciding what kind of fillers you want to put inside ! They have mini beads, wood veneer, shaped sequins, foam balls and lots more to choose from. 

I've had lots of fun exploring the store and am going to give their Mix the Media a go too! They have wood frames, palates, letter boards and more ready for you to paint, distress, and decorate for home decor.
