Serendipity Stamps August Blog Hop - Oh Baby!

Welcome and thanks for stopping by! Serendipity Stamps is having a blog hop to show you some of the latest products and remind you to play along with our challenge! Our blog hop theme this month is all things BABY!!   What a great time to get ideas for cards to welcome the new little one!

If you're hopping along with us you should have reached me from Vickie Zimmer's blog.  If you want to start from the beginning and get all the details of the hop, including the prize that's up for grabs you can do that here at Mary's Blog!!
Serendipity Stamps has some great baby images - they look amazing colored up or simply stamped in colored ink like I did today on my card.  The image has enough detail that it can hold it's own and still has lots of color!  I stamped in navy blue ink to coordinate with my background papers.  I'm usually reaching for pastels for baby - but the darker colors have lots of punch to them!
That fun "welcome" is from a larger stamp in the Uplifting Words stamp set.  I masked off the rest of the sentiment and inked up only the "welcome".  I used a bitty staple as an accent - it's not actually stapled through the entire card, just the tag.
I double cut the Baby word die in two shades of blue that match the background papers. The dark was too dramatic, and the lighter blue was getting lost.  Layering them gave me the perfect balance I was looking for.
Are you a fan of Serendipity Stamps? For sure you'll want to check out our monthly challenge! It's a great way to get ideas - seeing projects made with stamps you might already own, and when you link up your design you just might win our prize! One random player is selected to receive a $20 gift certificate from Serendipity Stamps.   Our challenge this month is to add fabric. That can mean a bit of ribbon or lace, or even using an image that has fabric in it - like the baby carriage I used - it has a blanket tucked inside and a lacy top.  It's up to you - just make sure you include at least one Serendipity Stamps image (stamp or die) on your design.

To add even more fabric to my design I included a die cut rolled flower that was cut from felt, and a pretty hand crochet flower that my Mom made for me.  I don't use them very often.  They are a little treasure for me and I hate parting with them.

  4. I could look at this card for hours and still not soak up all the perfect little details! The crocheted flower! The little stapled Welcome! The bit of patterned paper peaking out behind the white stamped panel. The navy striped twine. And the two shades of blue for the Baby die cuts. How do you always manage to pull together so many elements to make the perfect whole? Will you save this card for several years until my first grandchild is born? Love it!
