It's my turn to pick a guest for the Inspired By All the Little Things Challenge! I'm happy to announce that Jill Foster is joining us this week! You'll know Jill from her blog Studio Sessions Art, and her videos on YouTube here. I really admire her style - she's a risk taker - never afraid to layer on some gesso or a splash of watercolor.
The inspiration photo is a collaboration of sorts. I usually choose a handful of photos that I think will appeal to my guest, and let them choose the one they like best. Jill settled on these hydrangeas - I expect the loose watercolors spoke to her, and the yummy purple spoke to me!
I admit I'm still a novice at watercolors - and while you might not believe that looking at this one (or maybe you do! LOL!) I painted this panel more times than I care to admit. Canson (my favorite watercolor paper) might notice an increase in sales this past month for all the sheets I scrapped.
My favorite watercolors are Peerless - their ability to blend is unmatched by any other brand I've tried.. and again.. there have been MANY.
I stamped and embossed the Hydrangea image from Ellen Hutson and then watercolored the image. The colored leaf stamping was added after the watercolors were dry. I wanted to mimic the photo - it has white outlined flowers and a green line drawing of a leaf.
Wait until you see what our clever design team made! Just click on their names to jump to their blog
