Gallery Idol 2014 - Washi

Have you seen that Paper Crafts Connection is hosting their annual Gallery Idol?  The first round is an open audition with a theme of washi.  I'm sort of feeling "out of my league" and apprehensive, but with a little shove from a few friends - should I name names?  OK Cathy and Tracey this is on you!  Am I feeling confident riding on the kind words of some big hearts?  Open for rejection? What if I don't make it to round two?  I guess I'll never know if I don't try.  Maybe you should too?    What do we have to loose?  I know.. only our pride and self esteem right?  That's ok!! We can take it!  I've been told "No" more than once in my life LOL!

I decided to use all sorts of pretty washi that I've been collecting to make a color block background.  I just picked patterns and colors that I thought worked together - just like patterned paper, and threw in a few for a little whimsy - like the fruit.  I die cut the sheet and inserted the die inside.  The sentiment was stamped on white card stock, and attached so it all lays flat.

Interested now?  Want to see all the other projects linked up?  Only 20 will make it to the next round.   You can see them here in the PCS 2014 Gallery Idol Flickr Gallery.  Wish me luck!

  1. Good Luck - but I'm sure you don't need it! You'll go flying through to the next round or there's no justice! I love your bright washi card :)

  2. A giant wish of good luck to you. I am so glad you are going for this, and I hope you win. I will be able to say "...I knew her when...." What a dynamite first entry. Such a fun mixture of washi, and I love how you die cut right into it.

  3. You know how much I LOVE this card...and if you don't make it to Round 2, I will be shocked! This is a great use of washi tape...the different patterns and using it with an inset die cut. Beautiful!!! Wishing you good luck, your card is a winner!

  4. Absolutely love your card! The different washi colours and patterns look glorious together and love them with the die cut. Thank you so much for sharing the info about the Gallery Idol challenge. I just made a card last night (for no particular reason)that consists of mainly washi tape. Was just going to post it on my blog tomorrow but have now entered it into the challenge. I'm certainly not expecting to get anywhere at all but can't wait to follow the 20 finalists (of which I hope you are one) through to the end. Fingers crossed for you!!
