For as long as I can remember playing cards have been in my life. From my first games of Go Fish, War, Crazy 8's and Gin Rummy cards have provided me an opportunity to enjoy spending time with friends and family. My parents taught me Pinochle as a teenager. When I started dating my now hubby I knew he was accepted by my parents when they took him under their wing and taught him to play as well. Since then he has been my Pinochle partner as well as my life partner and we are pretty good at reading each other's hand without saying a single word! I consider myself lucky at love because I am still with the same man 26 years later.
I made this card for the Card Play Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. The challenge is to incorporate playing cards into your project in an innovative way. You can play along with the challenge and get the details at: http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/09/next-challenge-in-moxie-fab-world-card.html.
I made several playing cards using the Tim Holtz Alterations embossing folders. I inked them up, cut them out, rounded the corners and arranged them on my kraft cardstock base. I embossed my "LOVE" image with black embossing powder making sure not to ink the heart that was on the stamp - this allowed me to insert my own heart gem on the tag. I hand cut the silver tag because the next size die was too big. I added the swirl of gems to add to the magic of the card - I thought a big fat bow would cover up too much of the background I created. I hope you're playing along - I can't wait to see what everyone came up with!

This is another stunner! Such wonderful creativity, love the embossed playing cards, and the beautiful gem swirl. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWow. I will say it again. Wow. This one is a stunner and I fully expect to see it as a great big winner when this challenge is over. I have no idea how you inked that up. It is so striking and that little heart you added is such a creative and stand-out embellishment for this card. I am always so happy to hear people talk about their long and happy marriages, mine is now at 31 years and I congratulate you and your husband for your 26! Guess my husband and I better learn how to play pinochle, right?
