Fluttering By To Say Hello

Who doesn't love butterflies? I know I do! They're like flowers with wings! Today I'm playing along at the Sisterhood of Crafters challenge where they're looking for butterflies!
My card starts with a dark blue panel adhered to my white card base. I topped the panel with an aqua panel cut with the Waffle Flower Nesting Dotted Rectangles.
I topped the aqua panel with three of the Pinking Rectangle Frame cut from white cardstock. I added the negative square inside of the frame in different colors between the layers.
I topped the finished color block panel with bright colorful butterflies in pinks and oranges. The butterflies were cut with the Window Trio 2 die that will cut three butterflies at a time, or you could save the negative cuts from other projects and use those. I used up some scraps for these.
The sentiment is from the Fluttering by stamps set. The coordinating die cuts around all the letters leaving a very intricate cut sentiment.
I hope this bright cheery card leaves you smiling!

Butterfly Birthday Wishes

Today I'm sending you some bright cheery Birthday Wishes and I'm playing along at Crafty Catz where they're looking for things with wings.

Color block has been one of my favorite techniques forever. I love that I can use up scraps and include lots of my favorite colors making backgrounds that make clean die cuts pop.
I really love the Pretty Pink Posh Stacked Edges border collection. The set includes three dies and I can cut all three at the same time saving the extras for future projects. The best part of all is that they fit together like puzzle pieces for a clean flat design.
I topped the panel with a few Butterfly Shaker butterflies dies cut from white cardstock and then added a simple "Birthday Wishes" greeting. The coordinating die cuts around all the letters so that no fussy cutting is required.

This is just so bright and sunny! I hope it makes you smile!

Happy Birthday Mandala

Today I'm playing along at Cupcake Inspirations. There's only a few hours left so I'm trying to sneak this one in under the wire!

This time it's a color challenge of orange, pink and yellow. Or you could make some pretty cupcake frosted flowers like these!

My card starts with an orange Distress Ink panel topped with a Triple Line Diamond cover panel die from Waffle Flower.
Next I cut the Mandala die cuts from white cardstock and then inked the individual pieces in oranges, pinks and yellows.

I used the coordinating stencil set to add gold glitter paste embellishments to the layered die cut pieces.

The finishing touch was to stamp a sentiment on white cardstock, cut it in a banner shape and then tuck it between the floral mandala layers.
I love how bright and cheerful this card is! It's funky and elegant at the same time!

I Miss The Heck Outta You!

Today I'm playing along at Try It On Tuesday Challenge. This time it's all about RAINBOWS! I love rainbow challenges because they include ALL my favorite colors!
This card starts with a background created with the Waffle Flower Skinny Strip die cut in rainbow colors. The die cuts LOTS of strips at one time and I cut up lots of scraps of colorful cardstock for this one. I added double sided adhesive to the front of my card base and then just stuck them down onto it.
I topped the panel with the Oversized Miss word die with a gold background (every rainbow needs a pot of gold right?) and a subsentiment to coordinate with it.
Placing the word die first helped me decide how thick to cut the butterfly border for the top and bottom edges of the card.
I saved some of the cut out border butterflies and used them to scatter on the design in place of sequins.
Like those little butterflies I just cant resist all the color on this design. It just makes me so happy!

Sketched Iris Sympathy Card

Today I'm playing along at Make My Monday where the theme is Flowers. If I had to choose one flower that I look forward to seeing bloom every year in my garden it would have to be the Iris. We had Iris blooming at the first house we lived in when we first got married. When we left we took one of the roots from the plant and added it to our own garden. Like us, it's thrived and we've split it several times over the years so there are quite a few patches of it in our yard.
Another little secret.. the one type of card I absolutely never make is a sympathy card. This one is an exception - a special request -and lots of love went into it.
The card starts with a double cut Waffle Flower Flourish Panel. I cut it once from white cardstock and a second time from gold foil cardstock. I trimmed the gold panel and adhered it at a slight offset from the white panel. The assembled die cuts are attached to a soft Shaded Lilac distress ink panel.
Next I stamped the Waffle Flower Sketched Iris with Archival Ink and used the coordinating stencil set to ink it with Distress Ink. This makes a perfect match with the background.
The Sketched Iris set is really unique because the image is available as a stamp or hot foil. The coordinating die cuts both, and the coordinating stencil will help you ink both if you don't wish to color it yourself.
Thanks for stopping by! I'm still looking for my Iris to bloom. It shouldn't be long! I'll try and post some photos when it does! It's a feast for the eyes!
