12 Kits of the Holidays - May Edition

It's time for the 12 Kits of the Holidays!  Just to refresh your memories the 12 Kits is a group of 12 designers.  We take turns supplying the group with a kit of supplies once a month.  We all get the same things and and the end of the month we compare and see what each other has made..

Our hostess this month is Marybeth from Marybeth's Time for Paper Blog.  She focused on making a kit with Get Well, Thank You and Thinking of You  sentiments and images.  Look at this amazing kit she put together for us.....paper from My Mind's Eye, Stamps from Serendipity, WPlus9 and Lil Inkers.  I loved everything she put in here!  This was the first time that I messed up coloring one of the images and Marybeth was quick to send me out a replacement and help me save face!  This kit also convinced me that I absolutely needed the Lil Inkers Rain Boy - and he is already safe and sound here at home!  I'm going to keep this short and sweet because I made lots of stuff this time and I'm photo heavy here!

Well was that fun or what?  Check out what the rest of the team made!  Just click on their names below!

Thanks for stopping by and have a beautiful day!!

CASE Study #143 - Here For You

It's time for your weekly does of CASE Study Inspiration!!  This is the last week to play along with our muse this month Maile Belles and our guest design team member Erin Schulte.  Case has always been one of my favorite places to play because I love that the inspiration photo can take so many twists and turns.   Take the inspiration photo this week .... what do you love about it? Is it the colors, the feathers, the layout?   There is no right or wrong - it is what ever moves you.  Just grab it and make it all your own.

For me?  Well it's obvious isn't it?  I zoomed in on those wooden feathers dipped in ink alternating up and down.  I turned them into colorful umbrellas!  I had so much fun stamping them in all sorts of pretty color combinations until I decided on the ones I used here.   So happy to get these little guys inked up for the first time and make something wonderful!  I'm not a CAS gal but I have to say this one does look "finished" and I am VERY HAPPY with it.  It's all a big experiment some days and you just never know what's going to happen do you?
Well now it's your turn to play - get inky my friends!!! Need some inspiration?  I think you will smile at all the different directions this one goes too!  Just click on the links below to jump to the DT blogs.

Waltzingmouse May Release Blog Hop!

Have you seen the previews of the new Country Labels 4 and USA 1776 sets from Waltzingmouse stamps?  The sets officially hit the Waltzingmouse on line store today so the design team is celebrating with a blog hop of their own.  You should have gotten here from Edna's blog if you are following the hop.  If you'd like to start from the beginning - the complete list is here at the Waltzingmouse Makes blog.
I wanted to show you a few projects I made with the Country Labels 4 set.  They coordinate perfectly with the Spellbinders Labels 4 die and they are packed with country charm.  I couldn't help but break out the gingham and twine to make a country inspired thank you.  The label is simply stamped in red ink and die cut.  I topped that with a scallop die cut and an oval cut sentiment.  I stamped the cherries in pink, and the leaves in soft green to create a watermark effect.

I also made a tag to tie around a cellophane bag of yummy home made peanut butter cookies.  I added a big bow with a button hot glued in the center to make it ready for the giving.

The next stop on your hop is the sweet Jen Cuthbertson's blog I'm Crafty -  I know she's going to blow your socks off!  OOOOh, but before you go - make sure you leave a comment - Waltzingmouse is awarding one random commenter from all the blogs a stamp set of their choice.  You have until June 1 at 5:59 a.m central standard time to leave to enter.  Good  luck to you and have a great day!!!

Big Hugs!

TRR #54 Flower Cart

Do you love ribbons, lace, paper flowers and other trims?  The Ribbon Reel is just for you.  Twice a month they host a challenge where you can enter you creations and possibly win some gorgeous embellishments to play with.  The design team gets to take turns choosing inspiration photos and this time it was my turn.  I chose this image of a weathered cart of beautiful lavender flowers.  No surprises here - you all know I'm seriously addicted to purple.  The challenge is easy - create something inspired by the colors in the photo and be sure to add a flower and ribbon.  Yes!  The flower can be stamped of course!!

I got a set of Bo Bunny papers and embellishments as a gift from a friend and I thought they'd be perfect for this challenge. There are highlights of green and yellow, and cream like the photo.  Goodies from the Ribbon Reel that I added include a pretty pearl pin, sheer polka dot ribbon, some velvet, button thread, paper roses and even a sweet little button!
I hope you will visit the rest of the design team and see the beautiful creations they made as well.  Just click on their names below to jump to their blogs

The Kraft Journal Make It Monday - Celebrations

Today I'm playing along with The Kraft Journal Make It Monday Challenge.  This week the theme is Celebrations.  I had to do a little thinking here to figure out exactly what I wanted to celebrate!  I saw card examples there celebrating graduation, friendship, baby, birthday and more.  I decided since Memorial Day is so close I would celebrate Summertime!  My daughter is on break from college, my son's last day is next Wednesday so I say - Let the fun begin!!  I always look forward to lazy summer days sitting in the yard - listening to the birds and buzzy bees, watching the veggies grow and the flowers putting on a show.   Sounds like a celebration doesn't it?

I saw this "charm" card on Wida Miller's blog and wrote that I wanted to case her - I hope she doesn't mind - this one looked like too much fun to pass over.  I threaded all sorts of beach accessories on some button twine that added to the tropical feel.  The stamped charms are all fussy cut and I added just a few gems for some sparkle.  To get the bubble background different colors I inked it up in yellow, then dabbed red and orange on the stamp, and then hit it with the yellow again to smooth out any ink pad lines.
I hope you enjoy the long weekend and get to relax and start off your summer on the right foot!! Enjoy and have a beautiful day!!

CASE Study #142 - Hello!

Happy Thursday!  For me that always means time for a new CASE Study Challenge!  Our muse of the month is Maile Belles from Simply Stamped! and can I just say that  I'm really loving her style?!!  This one is clean but it still has lots of wonderful elements and detail including the double layer flower, the die cut and stamped leaves, and did you get a good peek?  There are even some little gems in there to satisfy the magpie in me. I can't help but be drawn to shiny colorful objects!

Remember with CASE all you need to do is study the inspiration photo - find what appeals to you the most - the colors, the layout, an element (like the flower), and then make it all your own.   I loved the layout of this one.  Instead of Maile's leaves I  stamped a colorful background of double stamped flowers and topped them with a butterfly die cut.  I added a floral die cut in hot pink to bump up the color, and a sprinkle of pearls to mimic the gems on Maile's design.

Need a little inspiration or just want to see what the rest of the DT did with this one?  Just click on their names below to jump to their blog!

Twice a month Serendipity Stamps hosts a challenge at the Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog.  This is your chance to pull our your fave Serendipity Stamps and make something for your chance to win!  The challenge this time is called Victory Garden.   You are to make a project inspired by the garden using at least one Serendipity Stamps image or die.  The design team was given a little trickier challenge - to create something garden inspired but - No Flowers!

I decided on the sundial image.  I colored it up with Copic Markers and layered it on some pretty paper from Websters Pages.

I hope you will check out the inspiration provided by the rest of the design team for this challenge.  Just click on their names below.

WPlus9 Monday Mood Board #12 - Birthday Party!!

I saw this inspiration photo for the Monday Mood Board at the WPlus9 blog and knew I had to play along - it just looks like a party going on doesn't it?  Dawn, the creator of WPlus9 and her husband are both celebrating a birthday this month so of course I made a birthday card!  I packed lots of color in this one - I hope I didn't go overboard - it was like a snow ball rolling down a hill - just getting bigger and bigger as it went!  Totally out of my control folks - like my friend Joyce says - sometimes cards just make themselves!!  I tried to grab as many of the  elements from the photo I could - the colors, twine, polka dots and chevrons!

I hope you have a great day - and join the party if you have the time!!

Make it Monday with the Kraft Journal - Mon Amie

Happy Friday!  I've got two posts today - one for the Waltzingmouse Blog Party and this one for the Kraft Journal.  I try to do my crafting for a few hours at night to wind down - secretly maybe I am waiting up for the kids to get home so I can sleep better :)  The weather has been so nice here lately - and my days have been spent thinking of things I need to do to get the yard in order for the lazy days of summer.   I love sitting outside - spying on the birds and digging in the garden.

The challenge this week at the Kraft Journal is to make a project that is kraft and red, white or blue.  I adore red with kraft so that was a no brainer for me.   I embossed some kraft card stock with a rose pattern and then lightly ran an ink pad over the top to bring out the design.  I topped it with a stamped label sentiment a big bow and some paper flowers.
I hope you are having a good day - and that you have an even better weekend!

Waltzingmouse May Blog Party - Teacher Appreciation

It's the 17th and you know what that means right?  Time to party Waltzingmouse style.   Every month a new theme is announced - this time it's Teacher Appreciation.  This is a great opportunity to see different ways people use their favorite sets to meet the spirit of the theme.    After thinking on this one for a while I though the Playful Pinwheels would be just the ticket!  Here's what I came up with...

I stamped and fussy cut the pinwheel.  The center is a button topped with a half pearl, and yes that is a real lollipop stick for the handle.  Like Claire says... I hope it tickles!

There's still time to play along if you haven't got a project made.  You can see all the other creations linked up and get more details here.

Before you go I hope you will leave me a comment.   While Claire is offering up some blog candy for the blog party entries  - it is my 2nd year blogversary and I am putting up a little of my own. You have until May 31 to leave me a comment.  One random winner will receive the Folk Art Medallions and Folk Art Labels 25 stamp sets.  Good luck and thanks so much for all your support this past year - you've been a real blessing in my life!

Paper Sweeties - May Release Day 4

So have you been checking out the May Release of the Paper Sweeties? The stamps officially hit the Paper Sweeties Store yesterday.  Today to celebrate the new release the design team is mixing up the old with the new to show you how well the stamps work together.  I know so many of you like to create your own backgrounds - and I think the new addition of "Fun Shapes" really adds lots of opportunities to do just that.  I took the hexagon shape and stamped a background in bright colors.  It looked so fun and vibrant that I thought Jake would be a perfect topper.  I mean how cute is this?
While I was playing around with the shapes I also made this clean and simple card featuring the star shape from the same "Fun Shapes" set.  I topped them with buttons and added a few swirls of gems for a little sparkle.
I thought these stars were just so fun looking that they'd be perfect for a young man!  The sentiment is from the new "You are the Most Wonderful" set.
I hope you'll visit the rest of the design team and see what they created for this challenge.

If your a fan of the Paper Sweeties you will want to check out the monthly blog challenge at the Paper Sweeties site for your chance to win a few sets to add to your collection.  If you need to get your collection started you might want to check out my blogversary candy in the upper left hand corner of this blog (hint hint).
